Laptop Australia
Australians love their computers. In fact, two out of three households in Australia have one or more computers, and in almost any of these homes you can expect to find the Mac vs Pc debate raging, with families becoming more informed about brands and specifications every year.
So what is available to buy and use in Australia? Of the major brands, the most commonly sold in computer stores are Dell, Mac, Sony, Toshiba, Acer and IBM. While many other quality computers are available, such as Lenovo and Compaq, these are not generally the “first to come to mind” for Australians.
The average Australian will expect to pay around $400 – $1000 for a laptop, with the popular Dell Inspiron 700M being sold at approximately $600 in most shops and online stores, and the Apple MacBook Pro 13” averaging a sale price of around $1,100.
When considering purchasing a computer, individuals and families cite cost, quality, connectivity and reliability as the factors behind their choice. In Australia, a brand must have a good reputation and excellent customer service if they are going to succeed. Hearsay that a company did not uphold a warranty, or was not helpful during set-up or repairs can lose that brand hundreds of customers a year.
The computers bought in Australia need to be powerful enough to work, study and play on, they need to have a good warranty for hazards such as power surges and accidental damage, good customer support and preferably wi-fi or plug-in internet connection. With this in mind, families must be careful when they choose their laptops, and take the time to consider their options and shop around. Most brands that are available overseas are available in Australia, so while it may be time consuming, it is not difficult to find the computer and operating system that is right for each individual and family.
