This is a small article about the Dell Studio 1555.

Around 6 months ago I found this laptop at a Dick Smith store pricing around $1200. After looking on eBay first hand models were going for around $1000 which is a great $200 saving that also includes 12 months warranty. So the pretty much the only downside was waiting for shipping but for $200 savings who wouldn’t wait?

Well actually I did wait… for 6 months! The price at the store went down to around $1100 or $1000 depending where you went and the eBay price went down to $750 – talk about a huge price change in 6 months, but this is technology.

So after looking at many laptops and notebooks I finally purchased a refurbished conditioned Dell Studio 1555 on eBay for… $550! Well $585 including shipping that has 3 months warranty but I do have to mention I don’t really care about warranties for some strange reason.

So I received it two days after paying through the Australian Post, opened it up and it looked like it was brand spanking new, I was very excited.

After not owning a laptop for around 3-4 years it felt great to be able to watch TV in my lounge room or sit outside and do work online however these are the things I have noticed with the Studio 1555.

1.The keyboard takes a little bit to get use to, not so much the width which is actually very good but the windows key is in a different position and you have a function key (just things which I’m not use to.

2.The power cable can come out very easily. I thought I was charging it overnight but apparently the cord was just “half in” and not really doing anything but glowing blue.

3.It’s extremely hard to open with just one hand but you probably shouldn’t be doing this on your new baby anyway, right?

Pros:

1.It’s awesome. Very slick design.

2.Easy to use keyboard (minus the windows key)

3.Great battery life of around 3 and a half hours. Maybe more on a brand new one.

So basically this a great notebook laptop and I highly recommend it. But I always think you should go to your local computer dealer and try it out first in store before buying it online as we all have different tastes.
